My new best friend, the New York Times, said in this article that inflation in Zimbabwe is close to eight quadrillion percent – 8,000,000,000,000,000,000%. Eight quadrillion. Eighteen zeros behind that 8. The story kicks off with an anecdote of how one family lost all five of their children, almost overnight, to cholera.

I guess all I’m asking is that we remember our brothers and sisters in Zimbabwe at this time of year during which we’ll be spending hundreds of dollars on things we want but don’t need and hundreds more on food that will cause us to gain a quarter of a million tons as a nation.

I really don’t understand how that’s ok.
